My computer recently turned itself off about a week ago without warning so as usual i went to turn it back on only too find it wouldnt turn onso i checked the cables and everything made sure they were all in right and they where but still didnt turn on.soo i figured it was the psu that had gonesince the computers quite old. So i tried another psu but when i went to turn it on there was one long beep and the computers shows no signal on the monitorand no usb devices such as the mouse or keyboard light up. The fan lights are on the fans on but no power too usb or monitor.Any ideas? Did you make sure to plugin the little 4pin near the cpu?Try taking out one ram stick out at a time and testing them.Does the system have an onboard graphic card? If so take the one in there out, remove the cosmos battery & unplug the computer, wait 2min then put the battery back in and power on the system. One long beep tends to be a ram issue but at times can also mean you have a short somehwere on the motherboard and the case. Heck you could even try blowing it out, I've had one not boot because of dust build up.
Yeahh the 4 pin connecters in tightly i took out the ram and tried them in different order 1 in at time swapping sometimes it would just do another long beep. Im using a Radeon hd 4350 graphics card as theres no onboard graphics in it but with the vga cable connected it just still says no signal and the lights on the mouse or keyboard dont seem to work. Yeahh im hoping its not something to do with the motherboard as its quite old and dont have the money at the min to buy a new computer.
Motherboard starts but no signal in the monitor I have changed cpu, everything seems to be fine but motherboard - Asrock P4I45G Motherboard question. I removed hard disk & DVD rom & changed their power cords, but no use. I removed the computer cord, & pressed & hold the 'ON' button for 30 to 60 seconds, but no use. It was working fine a couple of weeks ago, but then I turned on & it was not working anymore. By the way, when I turned on it acted a little weird before going dark.
Theres quite a lot of dust in the cpu fan do you think that could be the cause? Wait 2 min put the battery back in and power the computer back up.
I am pretty sure it's either the graphic card or board. You could even try unplugging the hard drives and dvd drives to see if there's any difference. Okay i took out the battery for 2 mins and disconnected the power and removed the hard drives and disc drive so only the power to the motherboard and graphics card was working i left the ram in and started it up but it was just one long beep over and over again:SJaz0n19xddRepeat that again but this time take the graphic card out and leave it out. Tell me if you get another kind of beep. But it's most likely the motherboard or graphic card. No way to test it unless you have another one laying around.
I removed the graphics card the hard drive everything even the ram so that the only thing that was working was the psu too the motherboard but it was still the same long beep. Would a screw lying about underneath the motherboard cause something like this?
I havent taken it out of the case yet as i will tomorrowJaz0n19xddYup that could cause it. Id say take board out then blow it out and the case out put it back in if its still beeping try taking the cpu out and putting it back in, if it's still not working your out of luck.
Hello,My computer is not turning on and has a green light blinking on back of the power supply. I ran a diagnostic test where I plugged in each component to the power supply 1 at a time. The one that makes the light blink is bad. It was the motherboard. I installed a new motherboard and nothing has happened. I purchased a new and more powerful power supply. After installation of the power cable, the lights are on, fans are running, but there is no signal to monitor.I have an HDMI card installed. I also removed it to check whether monitor is getting signal.
The result remains the same. I have reset the BIOS, changed the RAM, and still, nothing is happening.I have tried to unplug and held down the power trick too.
The result is still negative. Also, the DVD drive will light up and open if it is unplugged from motherboard. It does nothing while plugged in.Both the old and new motherboards give the exact same symptoms.
Also, I have tried 2 new power supplies. Nothing has happened so far. Please help!
Please, look beyond the monitor. Is the PC actually booting (fans running is no guarantee of a successful boot)When you think it should have booted, try the CAPS Lock key, every time you press it the CAPS Lock light on the keyboard should toggle off and on. If this does not happen, the problem is that the PC has not booted, so naturally the monitor cannot display anything. If it was just the hard drive, you would still see the BIOS screen, so its probably deeper than that, based solely on your brief description. Some obscure HDD problems can prevent a boot however, and that type of failure could mean a thousand $ or more to recover the data (failed on-drive electronics). It could be the PSU, CPU, Motherboard or.If you have access to another PC, I recommend removing the HDD from the failed PC and fitting it as a slave (make sure the jumper is set OK) and recover all your important files. In this situation you will need to 'take ownership' of the files and folders on the old drive to get access from the host PC, that is done as below:Good Luck!
